BT-640A is a 32-bit Micro Channel bus mastering SCSI host adapter.Designed for high performance, multitasking environments, it provides 5MB per second data transfers to SCSI peripherals and up to 40 MB persecond DMA data transfers. True multitasking operation is achievedthrough the adapter's mailbox protocol which can handle up to 255 taskssimultaneously with a minimum of host processor intervention. Thismailbox protocol also handles scatter-gather data transfers of over 8,non-contiguous data segments. BT-640A works with UNIX, XENIX, NetWare,OS/2, and DOS, as well as SCSI-1 and SCSI-2 peripheral devices.
